When it was launched in 1927, the Type 35B combined the best of both worlds. Using the 2.3 liter engine of the Type 35 T with the Roots compressor of the Type 35 C, the Type 35 B (originally called TC) was the most powerful version available. With 140 bhp, the 35B was very fast, yet still reliable and fairly easy to drive.
The car we are happy to offer is an exceptional recreation of this iconic race car. With the value of the original car as high as it has been for decades now, it is only logical that replicas have developed as a reasonable alternative for owning a piece of automotive history.
This Bugatti Type 35 B was built in Argentina by the Pur Sang firm, one of the key players on the pre-war replica market. They offer a very decent recreation of the original car for only a fraction of the cost. The owner purchased the car new and when he received it, he was not happy with the level of finishing.
He undertook the task of dismantling the car completely to verify that details were accurate, materials were period-correct, and that the car was as close as possible to the real thing. He spent nearly 800 hours to completely rebuild and correct the car to make it what it should be.
This Bugatti Type 35 B is now in perfect condition. A stunning-looking car, this car is also one of the most reliable Bugatti replicas we’ve come across and certainly the easiest to drive. While it is built as a 35 B, the owner decided not to add the compressor, an accessory which makes the Type 35 B more difficult to drive for only small performance improvements. Even though the engine specifications are those of a Type 35 T, the frame and setup is identical to the Type 35 B and the engine is ready to accept the compressor without significant modifications.
After enjoying it for 2 years and nearly 1,500 km, the owner has decided that it was time to move on to another project. This Bugatti Type 35 B is immediately available in Switzerland. Part-exchange for another pre-war racer will be seriously considered.
