After the end of the group B era, the FIA set new rules for the world rally championship. The group A cars became the top level in 1987, and Lancia immediately got in the lead with a car that would become the most successfull Lancia ever : the Delta.
The car we offer is a genuine ex.works Delta HF 4WD group A, that raced in the 1987 San Remo rally with Markku Alen. It is one of the first works Delta, with the 8 valves engine and the narrow body. Like all race cars, the Delta has been improved a lot during its racing career. The 8 valves are the rarest as they have almost all been converted to 16 valves.
This stunning Delta HF 4WD group A has been raced in the 1987 San Remo rally with Markku Alen. Unfortunately, Alen went off the road and had to retire. The car has then been sold by the Lancia Team to University Motors, famous italian Lancia rally specialist. They fitted a new engine and gearbox and restored the car. It has then been sparingly used only to open rallyes or for demo shows. It is currently in superb condition and is ready to race.
The car still retains its original italian registration in the name of Fiat Spa, and it will come with a copy of the 87 San Remo rally entry form. It is immediately available in Europe. |
