The D6 was the last Delage. Produced from 1930 to 1954, the D6 was offered with a wide choice of engines over the course of its life.
In 1936, the Delage D6-80 racing version was introduced. Equipped with a 3.5 liter straight 6 engine mounted on a Delahaye frame, it could develop up to 200 bhp. The present model developped 150 bhp when running with regulat fuel, and 180 BHP when using methanol.
We are happy to offer for sale one of these rare and exceptional cars. The history of this particular D6-80 makes it one of the most desirable examples in existence.
During the first part of its life, this Delage D6 raced as a single seater in Argentina. It supposedly participated in various races, including in Mar del Plata in 1938 and Mendoza in 1942, yet without any specific documentation.
In 1974, the single-seater body was replaced with a 2-seater roadster body by well-known Argentinian coachworker Galisio. The inspiration is clearly the 1938 Tourist Trophy winning D6-3L driven by Gérard. With a complete aluminum bodywork and a strong, original 3.5l engine, this Delage is an excellent performer.
This exceptional Delage is eligible to participate in Historic races. This 1936 Delage D6 80 is immediately available in France with its Italian registration. The owner will consider a part or full exchange for another classic or race car. |
